MEDIA31

MEDIA31 is a creative collective for 16-25 year olds, based in Canterbury.
It is free to be part of and a practical skills learning opportunity for those interested in design and digital communications. Currently this project is in hiatus as we review and evaluate the pilot year.

At MEDIA31, we support the work of ART31 in raising awareness of opportunities, events and issue that matter to 16-25 year olds. We run Art31.co.uk to bring artists, arts professionals, and young people closer together and to highlight great events and opportunities to our audience.

MEDIA31 is open to anyone 16-25 interested in communication. We will be creating video content, writing blogs, designing marketing materials, interviewing artists and coming up with new and exciting ways to put young people in touch with industry professionals.

Our workshops are led by professionals who will help guide the project, so you can pick up new skills and see your work published online.

This is the launch our first MEDIA31 project, to create brilliant new content for art31.co.uk.

These sessions are FREE, this project is currently in hiatus as we review and evaluate the pilot year.

ART31 takes its name from Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of a Child, which states that ‘Children have the right to relax and play, and to join in a wide range of cultural, artistic and other recreational activities’.

There are a number of dedicated ART31 groups across Kent. The pilot group started at Gulbenkian, Canterbury, in 2013 and since then other groups have sprung up at Pie Factory Music, Ramsgate and Jasmin Vardimon Company, Ashford, with others in the pipeline. These groups meet regularly to plan ART31 events, as well as develop event management/front of house/marketing skills, meet companies, take part in workshops and see new and exciting artistic work.  MEDIA31SCREEN31Gulbenkian UncoveredARTY31TECH31KENT and TECHY31 are part of ART31.

ART31

ART31 takes its name from Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of a Child, which states that ‘Children have the right to relax and play, and to join in a wide range of cultural, artistic and other recreational activities’.

ART31 is a vision created with, by, and for young people in Kent, championing the belief that all children and young people have an entitlement to access high quality arts and culture, to empower them to achieve their creative potential, and to genuinely engage young people as equal partners in any decision making that affects them.

The ART31 Youth Board is made up of young people from across Kent aged 13-25 who steer its governance, and influence policy and practice across the county and beyond, challenging the creative sector to examine existing ways of working and integrate young people into the core of their practice.
