Cafe Refurbishment
27 Jun 2021
Our cafe is currently undergoing major renovation work due to be completed in August 2021.
Excitingly this is the culmination of a long-awaited project to develop a separate performance space, at the end of the café area, that can be closed off when in use. As a part of the project the cafe area has been redesigned to create a vibrant and colourful dining area and foyer space for all to enjoy.
With the support of £100,100 funding from the Arts Council, the project will transform its central foyer space so that it better connects the wide range of people and activities that visit and use the venue. The work, which includes installation of new lighting and furniture, will support Gulbenkian’s ambition to offer more diverse cultural programmes and enhance its potential to generate income. Sustainability and inclusivity will sit at the heart of the project.
This funding from Arts Council England will enable us to develop our café/foyer at the heart of our venue into a thriving creative space. It will allow us to offer an increasingly diverse programme, more creative opportunities for young people and local communities, and to enhance the visitor experience for our many different audiences.
The funding comes from the Arts Council’s capital funding, designed to gives organisations the right buildings and equipment to be able to produce and present great work and to support artists, audiences and the communities where they are located.
