Calling All Singers! Step Into the World of Ancient Drama…

8 May 2025

We’re on the hunt for a bold and brilliant chorus of singers to bring the next chapter of our epic Ancient Greek DANAIDS series to life!

Following the success of The Suppliant Women (2021) and The Sons of Aegyptus (2023), we’re diving headfirst into the next instalment: Daughters of Danaos – a powerful, reimagined scratch performance at the heart of our immersive, weekend-long celebration: Danaids: The Big Greekender!

What’s The Big Greekender?
Centred around a new, scratch performance of Daughters of Danaos (Danaids) the third play in the series, our ‘Big Greekender’ will take you through the whole myth. With music, movement, actors, workshops, screenings, talks and plenty of food and wine, this will be an uplifting, ground-breaking, ambitious attempt to get back to the original form and feeling of theatre.

We’re looking for a group of passionate performers to join our chorus and elevate the musical and choral heart of Daughters of Danaos and The Suppliant Women. No acting experience required—just your voice, your energy, and your love of storytelling. Do not worry, you will not need to learn everything by heart – these will be scores/script in hand performances

  • For The Suppliant Women performances (x2)– a mixed chorus of strong singers, who can read music – to be part of the end of Suppliant Women (Script/Score in hand)
  • For The Sons of Aegyptus (x1) – a group of older women, who will have a scripted role within the show. (Script in hand, no singing)
  • For the Daughters of Danaos (x3)– a mixed chorus of strong singers, who can read music – to be part of the end of Daughters of Danaos (Script/Score in hand).

If you are a ready formed choir, we’d love to hear from you!!

Who we need:

  • Anyone aged 18+
  • Any gender identity
  • Must be able to sing
  • Able to read sheet music / follow a score
  • We are also looking for a group of older women, to take part in just Sons of Aegyptos, for a small speaking part.

ART31

ART31 takes its name from Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of a Child, which states that ‘Children have the right to relax and play, and to join in a wide range of cultural, artistic and other recreational activities’.

ART31 is a vision created with, by, and for young people in Kent, championing the belief that all children and young people have an entitlement to access high quality arts and culture, to empower them to achieve their creative potential, and to genuinely engage young people as equal partners in any decision making that affects them.

The ART31 Youth Board is made up of young people from across Kent aged 13-25 who steer its governance, and influence policy and practice across the county and beyond, challenging the creative sector to examine existing ways of working and integrate young people into the core of their practice.
