Drama at Kent is proud to present the Creative Canvas Drama Festival, a showcase of work by our final-year students. This year’s program is comprised of entirely new shows written, designed, directed and performed by 14 brand-new companies.

Students have built upon the collective experiences and abilities developed across their degrees. They have produced a diverse range of work that includes original plays, exhibitions, comedy, music, physical theatre and immersive experiences. There is a wealth of material to please, provoke, unsettle and delight, from fresh new comedies to suspenseful thrillers, and thought-provoking stories in worlds both recognisable and bizarre.

These performances form the final examinations for the Creative Project module. For most students, it is the last assessment they will submit for their degree course. We look forward to welcoming some back next year but for many the festival will mark the end of their time at Kent.

Thank you for joining us to support their productions, and to launch them on to their next phase, whatever it may be.

ART31

ART31 takes its name from Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of a Child, which states that ‘Children have the right to relax and play, and to join in a wide range of cultural, artistic and other recreational activities’.

ART31 is a vision created with, by, and for young people in Kent, championing the belief that all children and young people have an entitlement to access high quality arts and culture, to empower them to achieve their creative potential, and to genuinely engage young people as equal partners in any decision making that affects them.

The ART31 Youth Board is made up of young people from across Kent aged 13-25 who steer its governance, and influence policy and practice across the county and beyond, challenging the creative sector to examine existing ways of working and integrate young people into the core of their practice.
