Join us for an exclusive live recording of the popular Kung Fu Movie Guide Podcast, in which host Ben Johnson will be joined by Life of Action author Mike Fury to share the secrets behind the stunts.

The film that helped to make Jackie Chan a household name in Hong Kong, Drunken Master is a kung fu comedy classic which set the foundations for his future successes, from Police Story to Rush Hour. After one scrape too many, Wong Fei Hung (Chan) – a talented but arrogant young martial artist – is sentenced by his father to become an apprentice of Beggar So (Simon Yuen), a merciless and frequently inebriated master of ‘drunken boxing’. Dripping with hilarious set-pieces, this is an essential film in the development of Hong Kong action cinema.

The Kung Fu Movie Guide Podcast will break down how this film revolutionised the kung fu movie genre, establishing a new star and kick-starting the career of Yuen Woo Ping, who would later become known for his outstanding fight choreography in huge international films including The Matrix, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2.

ART31

ART31 takes its name from Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of a Child, which states that ‘Children have the right to relax and play, and to join in a wide range of cultural, artistic and other recreational activities’.

ART31 is a vision created with, by, and for young people in Kent, championing the belief that all children and young people have an entitlement to access high quality arts and culture, to empower them to achieve their creative potential, and to genuinely engage young people as equal partners in any decision making that affects them.

The ART31 Youth Board is made up of young people from across Kent aged 13-25 who steer its governance, and influence policy and practice across the county and beyond, challenging the creative sector to examine existing ways of working and integrate young people into the core of their practice.
