The nights might be drawing in and the weather becoming chilly but Gulbenkian Arts Centre has plenty of comedians to warm up those funny bones this autumn.

Gulbenkian’s Funny Rabbit Comedy Club is back this autumn– radical and exciting, but also warm and snuggly as a bunny rabbit. Dates include Thu 28 Sep, Fri 8 Oct, Fri 5 Nov and Fri 10 Dec.

Emily Atack is back with a brand new show.  With humour, honesty and playfulness Emily explores everything from work to dating to her latest obsession… leaving the WhatsApp Group. Join Emily this autumn for her famous anecdotes and range of impressions, for what promises to be a truly incredible night on Fri 1 Oct, 8pm.

Outspoken, frank and funny, Sindhu Vee returns to Gulbenkian with a new show about the hair we want, the friends we have, and living the vast difference between virus and viral on Sun 3 Oct, 8pm.

Jason Byrne is back for more comedy magic, using only his mic as his wand. Featuring all sorts of hilarious stories from this unusual past year. From a quiz show in his toilet, river dancing in his living room, to getting Banned from Tik Tok. Jason’s Audience Precipitation, will be a laugh out loud, must see show, with a light drizzle of audience participation on Thu 14 Oct, 8pm.

The iconic voice of Love Island, Iain Stirling will be at Gulbenkian on Sat 30 Oct 2021, 8pm & Sun 27 March 2022, 8pm.

Slip into your catsuits The Scummy Mummies are heading to Canterbury. Join Ellie and Helen as they celebrate the scummier side of parenting, from drinking wine at teatime to hiding from the PTA. Bring your friends and make it a Mum’s (or Dad’s!) night out on Fri 15 Oct, 7.30pm.

Hosted by Matt Hoss: Stand-up comedian, twitch streamer and University of Kent alumni, Castival Live invites famous, legendary and hilarious guests to pitch their dream music festival on Thu 25 Nov, 8pm.

The Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award winning comedian Bridget Christie brings her blissfully funny and radical new show on Fri 3 Dec, 8pm.

Comedy and theatre merge with cabaret favourites The Tiger Lillies on Fri 15 Oct, and a riotous romp of a play set in an Irish pub, Catch of the Day, will be performed in our café on 22 & 23 Oct.

For our 2021 Linda Smith Lecture presented by the British Stand-up comedy Archive and the University of Kent School of Arts, we welcome comedian and presenter Robin Ince on Tue 2 Nov, 7.30pm.

ART31

ART31 takes its name from Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of a Child, which states that ‘Children have the right to relax and play, and to join in a wide range of cultural, artistic and other recreational activities’.

ART31 is a vision created with, by, and for young people in Kent, championing the belief that all children and young people have an entitlement to access high quality arts and culture, to empower them to achieve their creative potential, and to genuinely engage young people as equal partners in any decision making that affects them.

The ART31 Youth Board is made up of young people from across Kent aged 13-25 who steer its governance, and influence policy and practice across the county and beyond, challenging the creative sector to examine existing ways of working and integrate young people into the core of their practice.
