GENFest 2024 – Submissions!

8 Dec 2023

GENFest Submissions for 2024 are open!

Following the success of GENFest this year, ART31 Generate are now planning GENFest 2024!

It will take place live at Gulbenkian Arts Centre on Saturday 29th June 2024

CREATIVE SUBMISSIONS

To celebrate young people’s creativity, ART31 Generate are looking for original art and creativity from those aged 13-25 in Kent.  If you have something you’d like to share as part of the festival then we’d love to hear from you!

Here are some examples of what your submission could be:

  • A performance piece that will take place in the Gulbenkian Theatre!
  • A piece of visual artwork for the exhibition. (These could be painting, photographs, sculpture, design work etc!)
  • A short film to be shown in the Gulbenkian Cinema
  • Live music on the outdoor stage.

Or something else we haven’t thought of!

HOW TO APPLY

There are different application forms, depending on who you are:

If you are a young person aged 13 – 25 living in Kent click here!

If you are an organisation that works with 13 – 25 year olds in Kent: click here!

The form should take about 10 – 20 minutes to complete. It will ask you for information about who is involved and the proposed event/artwork.

Deadline for submissions: Friday 3rd February 2024

We will let you know the outcome by the end of March

GRANTS / FUNDING

We have a limited number of grants of up to £500 available for organisations to submit work or events for the festival (please get in contact if you anticipate your budget costs exceeding this, and we may be able to increase the amount of money we offer on a case by case basis). There is a section to complete on the application form for details.

If you are a young person applying as an individual and you require funding to make your submission possible (e.g. to cover travel expenses or materials), please contact us to discuss this after submitting your application: creativeengagement@kent.ac.uk

ART31

ART31 takes its name from Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of a Child, which states that ‘Children have the right to relax and play, and to join in a wide range of cultural, artistic and other recreational activities’.

ART31 is a vision created with, by, and for young people in Kent, championing the belief that all children and young people have an entitlement to access high quality arts and culture, to empower them to achieve their creative potential, and to genuinely engage young people as equal partners in any decision making that affects them.

The ART31 Youth Board is made up of young people from across Kent aged 13-25 who steer its governance, and influence policy and practice across the county and beyond, challenging the creative sector to examine existing ways of working and integrate young people into the core of their practice.
