Matthew Brown is a British composer, whose music is described as tonal and ranges from dark and subdued, expansive and lush, to alight with energy. His recent compositions are influenced by world music, dance music and jazz.
The Cordelia and Mirari String Quartets perform Haydn and Mozart quartets respectively in part 1 and together Mendelssohn’s Octet in part 2. The latter is heralded by the world premiere of Matthew Brown’s overture-like octet for strings, especially commissioned for CMC’s 85th Season.
