Oscar Wilde’s wittiest and most politically charged play receives a bold contemporary reimagining from Gulbenkian Associate Artist, acclaimed director Ramin Gray (Suppliant Women/ Danaids).
Bringing together actors from major Russian theatres and eminent British drama schools, this production explores the tension between power and authenticity, the perils of cancel culture, and the problem of sexism. Gray’s direction goes to the very heart of Wilde’s satire and finds issues that could not be more urgent.
“The play emerges fresh and clear and alive. The uniformly excellent cast perfectly match truth with style. One of the best pieces of theatre I’ve seen in years”- Mark Ravenhill, playwright.
