This Open Space event is a participant-led, shared meeting in which everyone who attends contributes to the agenda, and ideas are discussed collaboratively.

What is Open Space?

The aim is to foster connection, innovation and networking between artists, facilitators, curators, venues and anyone working in disability arts in Kent and Medway.

It’s a chance to have your say about what you feel our sector needs. It will also inform our planning and delivery of the full Elevate slow conference in 2027.

How will it work?

Book a ticket and go to this Google form to share a discussion idea, which we will gather together for the event. We will draw connections between questions, themes and issues to unpick in small groups.

The space and pace will be inclusive and welcoming – you can come as you are, and contribute as you wish. We will have a break from 11.30-12.00 before coming back together to share what we have discussed.

Access for this event

The Open Space event will be supported by a small team of hosts who can help with access needs.

The Shed has access via steps or ramps and there are toilets and accessible toilets nearby.

A quiet space will be available nearby.

If you have any additional access needs, please let us know in via the form. You can also email the event organiser, Mo at m.pietroni-spenst@kent.ac.uk if you have any questions.

10am-1pm with breaks

Soft arrivals from 9.30 for anyone who wants to land early and get used to the space.

ART31

ART31 takes its name from Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of a Child, which states that ‘Children have the right to relax and play, and to join in a wide range of cultural, artistic and other recreational activities’.

ART31 is a vision created with, by, and for young people in Kent, championing the belief that all children and young people have an entitlement to access high quality arts and culture, to empower them to achieve their creative potential, and to genuinely engage young people as equal partners in any decision making that affects them.

The ART31 Youth Board is made up of young people from across Kent aged 13-25 who steer its governance, and influence policy and practice across the county and beyond, challenging the creative sector to examine existing ways of working and integrate young people into the core of their practice.
