Story telling meets dance, live music meets clowning. An intimate spectacle of identity, where being British, Iranian, and a Hip-Hop head collide.

A hilarious and heart-felt story of one man’s journey to Iran to discover his cultural heritage featuring a captivating mixture of live music, spoken word, break-dancing and comedy.

Join Bobak on his journey of self-discovery as he meets a whole cast of weird and wonderful characters – from women defiantly running the first (and last) ever Tehran marathon, to stumbling into an underground breakdance battle.

Whilst the media frequently portrays the Middle East as a frightening and dangerous place, Bobak shows us the positivity, joy, family and community that we rarely get to see. This is a beautiful story that will have you laughing-out-loud and leave you feeling full of hope.

After the show, enjoy a chat with your neighbours and the artists as we serve traditional Persian tea and date biscuits called Kolompeh. Everyone is welcome.

Age restrictions: Suitable for ages 12+

Audience warning: Contains characters using racist, Islamophobic and strong language.

Ingredients: Post show biscuits contain nuts and gluten

ART31

ART31 takes its name from Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of a Child, which states that ‘Children have the right to relax and play, and to join in a wide range of cultural, artistic and other recreational activities’.

ART31 is a vision created with, by, and for young people in Kent, championing the belief that all children and young people have an entitlement to access high quality arts and culture, to empower them to achieve their creative potential, and to genuinely engage young people as equal partners in any decision making that affects them.

The ART31 Youth Board is made up of young people from across Kent aged 13-25 who steer its governance, and influence policy and practice across the county and beyond, challenging the creative sector to examine existing ways of working and integrate young people into the core of their practice.
