Summer Dance Project
The Gulbenkian ran two Summer Dance Projects in August 2016 – an Open Access and Advanced course, in collaboration with Motion Alpha Dance and Jasmin Vardimon Company.
The Open Access group, led by James Middleton (Motion Alpha Dance), gave young people aged 14 to 18 the chance to develop their dance skills and get the chance to perform on the Gulbenkian stage. The result was a stunning piece based on the theme of reflection, which was set to the soundtrack of Ludovico Einaudi.
Jasmin Vardimon Company led the Advanced summer school for 16 to 18 year olds. Sessions explored the work of this internationally renowned company through repertoire and creative work. This culminated in a powerful performance exploring identity and expression on the final day.
This collaboration led to the development of the Gulbenkian Youth Dance Company, delivered in partnership with Jasmin Vardimon Company, which has run through 2017.
Summer Dance Project will not be running during the summer 2018, but may do so in 2019. If you are interested in participating in Summer Dance Project please contact Neelam Saredia, Creative Learning Assistant on N.Saredia@kent.ac.uk or 01227 816 472.
