Cerrie Burnell – Author Talk & Book Signing
2pm – 1 hour talk followed by book signing
Hear Children’s author and CBeebies alumnus Cerrie Burnell discuss her latest novel The Ice Bear Miracle.
Learn what inspired Cerrie to become an author. From her school days when she couldn’t read a word, to the adventures she has learning to ice skate. Dive into the magical world of Fierce polar bears, fearless children and windswept winters as you meet Marv a hockey playing boy who once fought a bear and Tuesday a girl with a rare grace who lives in a carnival with a bear she loves like family.

And Then She… pop-up dance performance
10am & 1.30pm
Created especially for This Girl Can Festival by Kick Up A Fuss Collective.
Its performers have investigated the individual journeys of their younger selves and now celebrate what they have learned along the way in a sensitive, funny and revealing piece, sending positive messages back across the years. Inspired by Moving Memory Dance Theatre Company’s creative work with older people, Kick Up A Fuss Collective work collaboratively to empower older people to tell their stories through the body.

Working Women – Panel Discussion – hosted by ARTY31
10.30am – 11.15am
Join a panel of inspiring women working in the arts, STEM and education and find out how they got to where they are, what their jobs involve and any glass ceilings smashed along the way! This panel will be hosted by ARTY31, our arts leaders aged 8-12.

Mini Fashion Rebels – Screenprinting craft activity – free, drop in
11.30am – 1.30pm & 2.30 – 4pm
Drop in and get crafty at the Mini Fashion Rebels – Feminist slogan screen printing workshop! Learn how to up-cycle your old t-shirts, screen print and get a snappy introduction into fashion design. Suitable for all ages and genders, this workshop is mega fun and also firmly focused on being sustainable, so we encourage you to bring your own t-shirt to print onto!

ConfiDance inclusive dance workshop
11.30am – 12.30pm
The ConfiDance inclusive dance workshop is for all, come and have fun, learn some moves, feel powerful and get creative! We welcome everybody to come along including families. This session will be suitable for people with and without learning disabilities.

Family Spoken Word workshop

Spoken Word extraordinaire Neelam Saredia-Brayley leads a workshop that will encourage you to put pen to paper and express yourself with words.

Family Zumba workshop

Join Kent Sport’s This Girl Can tutor for a fun and energetic Zumba workshop for all the family.

Rave Party with DJ Brigitte Aphrodite
3 – 4pm
Bri will play a selection of awesome tunes by female artists and bands, for you to freestyle and boogie away to.

Our work with young people

Children and Young People are at the heart of what we do, as audience members, as participants and as thought leaders.

Through our landmark ART31 project we are working with young people and partners in Kent to create new opportunities through the arts for under 25's across the county.
