Half A String

Outdoor chaos 2m in the air! A vibrant joyful explosion of colour in an energy fuelled physical show full of clowning, puppets, and paint told from on top of a van.

Join Malcolm Brushell, a professional painter and amateur alchemist, on his quest to find the pinky-est pink paint on the planet! Through cracking rocks, mashing every conceivable vegetable, and even bottling and fermenting his own cow’s wee, he has created every colour imaginable.

Through stunning puppetry and an energy fuelled performance all on top of a van, join this race to create the most potent pigmented pink paint imaginable.

The show has its roots in the history of pigment making and follows a loveable independent artist up against a huge corporate pigment making conglomerate.

The show is suitable for all the family and is specifically aimed at ages 5+.

Local Kent based Half A String create, explore and share spectacular worlds to get lost in using transforming sets, intricate detailed puppetry and live atmospheric music.  Half A String have performed at bOing! previously with BEE and Save the Lyma Birds.

Times each day: 10am, 12pm, 2pm & 4.15pm

ART31

ART31 takes its name from Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of a Child, which states that ‘Children have the right to relax and play, and to join in a wide range of cultural, artistic and other recreational activities’.

ART31 is a vision created with, by, and for young people in Kent, championing the belief that all children and young people have an entitlement to access high quality arts and culture, to empower them to achieve their creative potential, and to genuinely engage young people as equal partners in any decision making that affects them.

The ART31 Youth Board is made up of young people from across Kent aged 13-25 who steer its governance, and influence policy and practice across the county and beyond, challenging the creative sector to examine existing ways of working and integrate young people into the core of their practice.
