You’re never too young to fight for gender equality!

Join us for a family day of dancing, music, talks, workshops and visual arts which celebrate women and equal rights as part of our International Women’s Day celebrations. All ages and genders are welcome.

This session will introduce the world of impact physics using hands on experiments such as producing craters in sand and designing and testing space craft shielding with a small pellet firing pistol. You will learn about craters (on earth and in space) meteors, meteorites and micrometeoroids. Particular focus will be on the topic of space junk and the methods used to keep our spacecraft safe. Suitable for age 4 +.

Grand Design – Build the Ultimate 21st Century Girl!
Clay-modelling workshop with Estelle Rosenfeld – 11am & 1pm
This fun workshop will leave you with dirty hands and a wandering mind. Using clay and thoughts we will explore what a 21st century girl should look like. We will design together what she should be like outside and in. This ‘hands-on’ session will be an opportunity for a genuine reflection and discussion, where two reasonable people may disagree! This clay modelling and philosophy workshop is suitable for 4 to 99 years old. It is part of the research and development of Bonhomme, a new project from What’s Coming out of the Box.

Animate Arts craft activity – 11am – 4pm
Make a cardboard headdress to represent an inspirational woman from history, and have your photo taken with your headwear!  You could make Amelia Earheart’s flying goggles, Frida Kahlo’s floral headband, Josephine Baker’s banana & feather headdress or Jane Goodall’s chimpanzee ears!

Moving Memory pop-up performances – Tipping the Balance – 1pm & 3.30pm
When the weight of the world is dragging you down, it’s time to welcome the queen of feminine wisdom into your heart! Arriving in suitably spectacular (and eco-friendly) style, she leads her merry Moving Memory cohort in a joyful carnival, raising the roof and bringing love and freedom to everyone who wants to make the world a much, much better place.  A new, short, pop-up performance from Moving Memory Dance Theatre. Moving Memory is a company of older women who make performances and installations which challenge assumptions about ageing. The work, like life, is surprising and funny.

Our work with young people

Children and Young People are at the heart of what we do, as audience members, as participants and as thought leaders.

Through our landmark ART31 project we are working with young people and partners in Kent to create new opportunities through the arts for under 25's across the county.

Below are some of our current projects focused on the development of young people.
