Presented by Folk In The Barn, in association with Gulbenkian

Folk in the Barn are pleased to invite the exceptional Cara Dillon back to Canterbury for a night of Christmas songs in what will undoubtedly be a magical and memorable festive experience.

Having recorded her highly anticipated Christmas album “Upon A Winter’s Night” Cara and her band will be performing classic Carols, Celtic Hymns and other Christmas songs to celebrate
and share in the Christmas Spirit. A tradition in the making.

County Derry born Cara has risen to become one of the finest exponents of traditional Irish song anywhere in the world.

Described by Q Magazine as “quite possibly the world’s most beautiful female voice”, her talent has been lauded since her very beginnings, winning the All Ireland singing trophy aged only 14, and every other Folk Award going. Together with her husband and musical partner, Sam Lakeman, (brother of Seth) she has successfully steered an eclectic musical path defying the typical pigeonholes that hinder most artists in her genre. Celebrated for entwining traditional and contemporary elements she has earned both commercial success and astonishing critical acclaim, with a fan base that reaches all over the world and includes such giants as Disney who, in 2010, asked her to sing the title song to the animated movie “Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue”.

A firm favourite of ours, this will be Cara’s 5th visit to Folk in the Barn in 14 years of promoting folk music in East Kent.

Our work with young people

Children and Young People are at the heart of what we do, as audience members, as participants and as thought leaders.

Through our landmark ART31 project we are working with young people and partners in Kent to create new opportunities through the arts for under 25's across the county.

Below are some of our current projects focused on the development of young people.
