ART31 Generate are recruiting new members!

11 Oct 2021

***Deadline to apply midnight Friday 29th October***

We’re looking for people aged 13-25 from all areas of Kent, and from a diverse range of backgrounds, to join ART31 Generate.

We’re a group of young people wanting to make exciting, creative things happen in Kent.

As part of ART31 Generate you will get to:

  • Plan and programme the annual ART31 Youth Takeover Festival
  • Discuss your ideas for events and creative activities for young people in Kent and make decisions on where funding should be spent
  • Take part in events including hosting on stage, working backstage or stewarding front of house
  • Work with arts professionals and gain valuable experience working on creative projects and in arts venues
  • Go on free theatre trips and visits
  • Make friends and have fun!

We meet on a monthly basis via Zoom, but will kick off the 2021-22 group with an in-person Launch Day at Gulbenkian Arts Centre. There will also be in person trips and visits throughout the year, and when running live events including the ART31 Youth Takeover Festival in June 2022. There may be more frequent Zoom meetings in the lead up to the festival but these will be flexible.

You don’t need to have done anything like this before – we’re just looking for people who are enthusiastic, committed and passionate about the arts!

We’re looking for members to join for at least one year, from October 2021-September 2022.

To find out more or register your interest, please email creativeengagement@kent.ac.uk

ART31

ART31 takes its name from Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of a Child, which states that ‘Children have the right to relax and play, and to join in a wide range of cultural, artistic and other recreational activities’.

ART31 is a vision created with, by, and for young people in Kent, championing the belief that all children and young people have an entitlement to access high quality arts and culture, to empower them to achieve their creative potential, and to genuinely engage young people as equal partners in any decision making that affects them.

The ART31 Youth Board is made up of young people from across Kent aged 13-25 who steer its governance, and influence policy and practice across the county and beyond, challenging the creative sector to examine existing ways of working and integrate young people into the core of their practice.
