We are looking to recruit a Technical Manager to lead the technical team as a member, manager and technical expert across the live, film and festival programme. You will be the budget holder for the technical department. You will pro-actively communicate with all users of the venues (internal and external) and assist and advise them on technical aspects of their event in order for the events to run smoothly and safely. To manage the programme of equipment maintenance and renewal for the theatre spaces.
You will also be responsible for the development and running of our technical engagement programmes including youth groups, work placements and our student work/study programme.
Arts and Culture is a new department within the University and has responsibility for the strategic development of arts and culture at the University of Kent. The Director of Arts and Culture has line management responsibility for the Director of Gulbenkian and the Director of Music and is responsible for the programming and creative activity on the Medway campus and European centres in Paris, Rome, Brussels and Athens.
Gulbenkian was recently awarded the status as a National Portfolio Organisation with Arts Council England. It was one of only 8% of organisations that received an uplift to its funding. The Gulbenkian team is currently made up of 26 full-time; 10 part-time and 100 casual members of staff, with a turnover of £2.4 million per annum.
Gulbenkian’s varied programme of activity attracts over 100,000 people per year with plans to grow this by 10% over the next NPO reporting period.
The Gulbenkian puts on over 1000 events per year across our whole programme. The programme consists of cinema, contemporary dance, live music, theatre, comedy and spoken word.
